Six stakeswinners in 21 hours for Arrowfield sires

Hussonet’s 28th individual Group 1 winner headed a stunning 21-hour, four-state strike on six Australian black type races by the Arrowfield stallion roster this weekend.

At his ninth Group 1 race start, Eagle Falls ( Hussonet -Desina by Desert King) scored a brilliant victory in the $400,000 MRC Oakleigh Plate 1100m G1 at Caulfield, posting a time of 1.02.28 to defeat Avenue and Hinchinbrook.

In Sydney, exciting 2YO filly Satin Shoes ( Flying Spur -Star Satire by Volksraad) became the fifth consecutive Arrowfield-sired winner of the ATC Silver Slipper following Shaft (Flying Spur, 2007), Amelia’s Dream (Redoute’s Choice, 2008), Melito (Redoute’s Choice, 2009) and Chance Bye (Snitzel, 2010).

Three races later at Rosehill, Flying Spur’s admirable 5YO daughter Montana Flyer (ex Montana Downs by Bluebird) won the $125,000 ATC Millie Fox S. 1300m G3 for the second time.

At Eagle Farm, Redoute’s Choice unveiled his 71st stakeswinner when 4YO gelding Essington (ex Besame Mucho by Encosta de Lago) took out the $100,000 BRC Falvelon H. 1200m LR.

Twenty minutes after that, 3YO filly Ain’tnofallenstar (ex Ain’t Seen Nothin’ by Nothin Leica Dane) became the fourth stakeswinner from Starcraft ‘s two Australian crops of racing age when she claimed the $80,000 SAJC H.C. Nitschke S. 1400m LR in style at Morphettville.

It was 3YO filly Miss Gai Flyer (Flying Spur-Power of One by Gilded Time) who kicked off the stakes-winning spree in Friday evening’s $100,000 MVRC Typhoon Tracy S. 1200m LR. A powerful late run added a second consecutive black type success to her record which now stands at four wins from 8 starts.

Placegetters Hallowell Belle (by Starcraft; 2nd, MRC Blue Diamond S. G1), Almindoro (by Redoute’s Choice; 3rd, MRC Autumn Classic G2) and Simply Put (by Charge Forward ; 2nd, MRC Mannerism S. G3) completed a memorable’s day’s work, less than 48 hours before the start of the 2011 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale. That catalogue includes 93 yearlings by eight Arrowfield stallions, among them Bellerive Stud’s half-brother to Ain’tnofallenstar (by Hussonet; Lot 379), and Grasslands Thoroughbred Farm’s half-brother to Saramenha (by Not A Single Doubt; Lot 292).
