A pair of Showtime colts produced the two fastest times at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale breeze-ups held at Seymour on Monday.

Nolen Racing’s Lot 67, the Showtime-Damselle colt stretched out in fine style to clock 10.14 on the synthetic track, earning warm praise from jockey Luke Nolen. “He’s a thorough professional, did everything right and he gave me a good feel underneath so he’s ready made, whoever purchases him is going to have some fun.”

Damselle (by Domesday) is a winning member of the high-class family that has produced Champion Sprinter Yell, Champion 2YO Microphone, Champion Sire Written Tycoon and Group 1 winner Anthems. Her Showtime son was bought for $80,000 by Tal Nolen from Maluka Thoroughbreds at Inglis Melbourne Premier and the mare is due to foal again to Showtime this Spring for breeder Brenda Holland.

Lot 69, the Showtime-Datable colt was almost as fast, recording 10.20 for vendor Moffatt Breaking & Training which bought him for $28,000 from Riversdale at the Inglis HTBA Yearling Sale in April.

Datable (by All American), already dam of Sydney winner Rita May is from the celebrated Easy Date family of leading sires Not A Single Doubt & Snippets and Group 1 winners King’s Legacy & Oohood.

As it happens, the dams of both colts are by sons of Red Ransom, whose daughters mated with Snitzel have produced Champion Trapeze Artist, Champion 2YO Estijaab, Group 1 winner Yearning, Group 2 winner Remarque & stakeswinner Traces from only 29 runners to date.
Additionally, Snitzel’s sons have sired Group winners Revolutionary Miss, Time To Reign & Libertad out of mares by Red Ransom sons.

Showtime was among the 8 first-season sires that left one or more Australian stakeswinners in 2022/23 and in all he’s posted 7 winners to date include 2YO Listed winner Show Royale and Group-placed Tacito.
