Second stakeswinner for Beneteau
Leading First Season Sire Beneteau posted his second stakeswinner when Arrowfield graduate Lady Jivago prevailed in the $250,000 ATC Inglis Classic 1200m (R) LR.
The Wyong-trained filly settled mid-field in a fast-run race and showed plenty of determination when asked by jockey Grant Buckley to peel out and overhaul the leaders in the straight.
Lady Jivago, who won on debut at Wyong last month, has now earned more than 12 times her yearling purchase price and taken Beneteau’s season earnings beyond the $500,000 mark.
The filly was bred from Hussonet’s winning daughter Hussterics by Arrowfield & International Equities, the same partnership that bred Beneteau himself.
Originally bought by Luskin Park Stud from Arrowfield’s draft at the 2013 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, she was subsequently purchased for from the Inglis Classic Sale (Winter Book) by Dr Ule Crossan. He now races her in a nine-member partnership, including trainer Jeff Englebrecht.
Lady Jivago gets a double dose of precocity from her Blue Diamond-placed sire and as a member of the noted Easy Date family that has also produced Golden Slipper winner Forensics, Snippets, Zizou and Not A Single Doubt – all brilliant juveniles.
Beneteau, whose final yearlings are being offered at 2015 sales, is also the sire of Group 3 winner Prompt Return, city winners Aegean Sea & Voilier and the winner Parcel.
The son of Redoute’s Choice has six lots catalogued for this week’s Inglis Classic Sale, including two fillies in the Arrowfield draft. As it happens, both of them are out of Hussonet mares.
