Second Group win for indomitable Quackerjack
“He’s just the perfect horse, so competitive, he loves his work, he eats everything you throw at him, he’s a great athlete.”
Mark Newnham’s warm appreciation of Saturday’s $160,000 ATC Liverpool City Cup 1300m G3 winner Quackerjack could apply to many of Not A Single Doubt’s progeny over the past dozen years. At every level of competition they are renowned for giving their best, no matter what.
And with topweight of 56.5 kg Quackerjack certainly had to produce his best to peg back a resolute Vegadaze for his second Group win after December’s Villiers S. G2.

Now the winner of eight of his 19 starts and $900,000 for his ownership group led by long-time Newnham supporter Frank Mittiga, Quackerjack is right on target for a tilt at the $3 million Doncaster Mile G1 on 4 April.
Quackerjack was a $240,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Rosari Farm draft of Queensland breeders Ged & Jan Nolan. His dam Quack It (by Ustinov) is a half-sister to stakeswinners Anatina and Pricked and descended from the brilliant 1980s sprinter Mother Duck – also the ancestress of stakeswinners Alberto Magic, Ladys Angel, Oxford Poet and Sugar Boom.
Rosari sold the Vancouver-Quack It yearling filly at this year’s Magic Millions Sale for $210,000 and the mare is safely in foal to Not A Single Doubt.
Although retired from stud duties, Not A Single Doubt remains a force to be reckoned with among Australian stallions. After the weekend efforts of Quackerjack and Group-placed trio Stellar Pauline, Dismissal & Fidelia and Newcastle Provincial Championships qualifier Oakfield Missile, he is 10th on the current General Sires’ Premiership with $7.1 million and five Group winners, among them Group 1 winners Samadoubt & Scales Of Justice.
Not A Single Doubt’s 24-lot offering at Inglis Easter 2020 includes four colts & two fillies in Arrowfield’s consignment.
