Second Group 1 victory for Miracles of Life

Not A Single Doubt’s star daughter Miracles of Life has a hoof in four states, and two nations, but there is no doubt where she is most warmly applauded.

That’s South Australia where the 4YO mare – not as small as she’s frequently described – claimed her second Group 1 victory in Saturday’s $400,000 SAJC Robert Sangster S. 1200m G1.

Jockey Hugh Bowman rode Miracles of Life with confidence, settling her midfield and three deep with cover behind Sabatini. Bowman set her alight down the middle of the track and the pair caught the defiant Gregers in the last stride before the post, in a time of 1:09.72. I Love It was a length away, third.

The Arrowfield-raised Miracles of Life won the 2013 MRC Blue Diamond S. G1, four other races and more than $950,000 for her breeder and first owner Teeley Assets who sent her to Adelaide to be trained for two seasons by Dan Clarken.

Miracles of Life was then sent to Queensland for last year’s Magic Millions National Sale where she was purchased for $900,000 from the Teeley Dispersal by Stonestreet Farms. The mare has now returned two-thirds of that price with a second Group 1 win, three Group 2 wins and a third in the ATC Galaxy H. G1 from the Sydney stable of Peter & Paul Snowden.

Paul Snowden said, “It was great for her to come back and do what she did. It is fantastic. They all love her over here and so they should.

“It is testament to herself. That is just how she is. You saw what she did at two and now she is doing it again at four. She is a really special horse.”

Hugh Bowman said, “Everyone knows what her record is like. She is so consistent, an absolute pleasure to deal with and to get a Group 1 as an older mare, I know it means a lot to the Snowden stable, it means a lot to me and I am sure it means a lot to her owners in America.”

“She is a class mare, I had the momentum, I was very confident approaching the 100m and she certainly didn’t let me down.”

Miracles of Life is the first foal of Dazzling Gazelle (by More Than Ready), also purchased by Stonestreet Farms from the Teeley Dispersal, for $400,000. The mare has a yearling colt (retained by Teeley Assets) and a weanling filly (bred by Stonestreet) by Not A Single Doubt.

Miracles of Life is Not A Single Doubt’s third major winner in the past three weeks, following Gypsy Diamond (ATC Japan Racing Association Plate G3 & 2nd, Wagga Wagga Gold Cup LR) and The Grey Flash (also out of a More Than Ready mare and winner of the SAJC Sires’ Produce S. G3).  Their combined efforts, and those of 103 other winners have put Not A Single Doubt among Australia’s top 10 sires this season, with earnings of $5.4 million.

A pair of smart juveniles by Not A Single Doubt made their own impact on Saturday’s results. The Richard Laming-trained  Payroll was a close second in the MRC Redoute’s Choice S. LR and Twelve Rounds won on debut in Perth from the Chris Gangemi stable.

With eleven winners and just over $1 million prizemoney, Not A Single Doubt is also fifth on the current Australian 2YO Sires’ table.
