Season’s 20th stakes win for Snitzel
Dances On Stars brought up the 20th stakes win this season by Snitzel’s progeny when he stormed home in today’s $175,000 GCTC Prime Minister’s Cup 1300m LR.
Those 20 successes have been achieved by 13 horses, nine of them Group winners, headed by Group 1 winners Shamus Award and Snitzerland. Their distribution by state is: NSW (6), Western Australia (6), Victoria (5) and Queensland (3).
Like Snitzerland and multiple Perth stakeswinner Amorino (formerly trained in Sydney by Gerald Ryan), Dances On Stars is from Snitzel’s 2009 crop. Shamus Award, Sweet Idea, Petrol Power, Estonian Princess & My Sister Lil were foaled in 2010; Time For War, Oakleigh Girl and Golconda are 2YOs; and Hot Snitzel and Malavio represent Snitzel’s 2008 crop.
Dances On Stars also won the ATC Carrington S. LR on New Year’s Day and is the fourth of Snitzel’s stakeswinners this season trained by Gerald Ryan. (The others are Snitzerland, Hot Snitzel and Time For War.)
Bred from the Last Tycoon mare Starnet by the Hong Kong Breeders Club, Dances On Stars was offered by Highview Stud at the 2011 New Zealand Premier Sale. Dynamic Syndications purchased the colt for $95,000, placed him with the Ryan stable and set about syndicating him.
As it happened, stable clients Brian Mullins, Donna Keegan and Ann & Richard Glenister were looking for a Snitzel colt and decided to take 100% of Starnet’s son. Three years and more than $500,000 prizemoney later, it’s been, as Dynamic Syndications describe it, “a brilliant decision.”
With season earnings of $8.7 million, Snitzel is headed only by his own champion sire Redoute’s Choice on the Australian General Sires’ list.
Snitzel stands at a 2014 fee of $71,500 inc. GST.
