Redoute’s Choice opens 2011 with winning quartet

Champion sire Redoute’s Choice celebrated the start of 2011 with a quartet of winners in three countries, from four different crops.

First up was Sheikh Mohammed‘s 2YO filly Glissade (ex Steflara by Zabeel) who scored a comprehensive debut victory at Randwick, with Charge Forward’s daughter Swerte Bella making it an Arrowfield sires’ quinella.

As reported by Thoroughbred News, trainer Peter Snowden afterwards, “She is my best one (two-year-old) and we are lucky enough to have two other fillies to win recently but I think her attitude and demeanour since her trial is what the better ones have. But it is only one race and I will not get too carried away with it.

“I like what I have seen today but there is a lot more to do with her,” he said.

Then 3YO filly King’s Rose (ex Nureyev’s Girl by Nureyev) extended her lead in the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series with a game and classy win in the ARC Royal S. 2000m G2 at Ellerslie. It was her fifth victory from 9 starts and took her earnings beyond $320,000 for her owner-breeder Dr Gene Tsoi.

In Perth, Western Australia, Bob & Sandra Peters’ homebred 4YO mare Mystic Hour (ex Fatal Attraction by Zabeel) held out the favourite Manila I Scream over 2200 metres to score her third win from seven starts.

Win No. 4 came at Sha Tin, Hong Kong when 5YO gelding Grandfield (ex Game Promise by Luskin Star) won over 1200 metres for owner Tony Yue Kwok Leung.

Redoute’s Choice is currently 5th on the 2010/11 Australian General Sires’ list with 64 winners and $2.8 million prizemoney; and King’s Rose is one of his seven individual stakeswinners so far this season.
