Redoute’s Choice filly wins again in Japan

Champion sire Redoute’s Choice enjoyed more international success today when his 3YO Japanese-bred daughter Clianthus posted her second win from five starts in Japan.

The Shadai home-bred, from champion Japanese sprinter Flower Park (by Nihon Pillow Winner), won the 1400-metre Tokyo Haruna Sho by 1.75 lengths, adding the equivalent of $A125,000 to her career prizemoney.

Clianthus is one of five winners from Flower Park whose seven wins included the Chukyo Takamatsunomiya Cup Jpn-1 and Nakayama Sprinters S. Jpn-1. This family has also produced Japanese Group winners M.O. Winner and Dyna Carpenter.

Redoute’s Choice has been represented by six winners in Japan, but Clianthus is the first one also foaled there.

Meanwhile, back in Australia & New Zealand, his southern hemisphere 3YOs have started 2011 with a bang. Seven of them have won since 1 January:

KING’S ROSE (f. ex Nureyev’s Girl by Nureyev) – ARC Royal S. 2000m G2, 1 January

Reservoir (g. ex Synaesthesia by Quiet American) – 5 January

Dolmabache (f. ex Our Echezeaux by Zabeel) – 14 January

Heritage (NZ) (c. ex Glamour Puss by Tale of the Cat) – 25 January

Haut Ton (f. ex Fine Society by Marscay) – 29 January

Hamel (c. ex Regimental Gal by General Nediym) – 30 January

They take Redoute’s Choice’s tally of Australasian 3YO winners this season to 33, among them four stakeswinners: King’s Rose, whose four wins include the CJC New Zealand 1000 Guineas G1, Rekindled Interest (MVRC AAMI Vase G2), and the Listed Stakeswinners Milestone and Kittens.

Seven yearlings by Redoute’s Choice will be offered at the 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale, four of them in the
