Perast all the way at Doomben

Snitzel’s son Perast showed his Group 3 win at Caulfield last Spring was no fluke when he ran his rivals ragged in Saturday’s $100,000 BRC Queensland Day S. 1350m LR.

Watch Perast win the BRC Queensland Day S. LR.

The 3YO colt was bred by Jonathan Munz’s GSA Bloodstock and bought by trainer Paul Perry for $100,000 from the Maluka Thoroughbreds draft at the 2016 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.

Paul, who also appears in the ownership alongside Francis & Christine Cook and partners, said, “He was a fit horse today and he’s had those few runs back, and once he settled and got past halfway, he looked good. I think that’s the best he’s been today and he should improve off that.”

Perast stays in Brisbane and will start again before tackling either the $350,000 Queensland Guineas G2 or the $1.5 million Stradbroke H. G1 on 9 June.

He is the best of four winners out of Listed winner Thousand Veils, and the third stakeswinner  from 30 runners bred on the Snitzel/Zabeel cross, after Time For War and Lubiton. Sadly, Thousand Veils died in January, leaving behind her sixth and final foal, a colt by Smart Missile.

Perast’s is one of Snitzel’s 26 individual Australian stakeswinners this season – just one short of a new outright record -and his  second stakes victory takes Snitzel’s tally for 2017/18 to 42 Group and Listed wins.
