PARIAH JOINS THE REDOUTE’S CHOICE DYNASTY AT ARROWFIELD

Star juvenile and 3YO colt Pariah joins the Redoute’s Choice dynasty at Arrowfield and will stand his first season in 2018 at a fee of $22,000 inc. GST, with sixty mares already committed to him by his strong shareholder group.

Arrowfield Chairman John Messara says,

“Snitzel, Not A Single Doubt and Beneteau – all by Redoute’s Choice, all outstanding 2YOs and all outstanding sires. Pariah is in the same mould and we are excited to stand him.”

Bought by James Harron for $700,000 from the 2016 Inglis Easter Sale, Pariah was sent to the Snowden stable and progressed quickly to his winning debut in the ATC Canonbury S. G3 over 1100 metres at Rosehill in January 2017 in which he defeated Menari.

After finishing second in the MRC Blue Diamond Prelude G3, Pariah started favourite in the Blue Diamond S. G1 and put up an outstanding performance to be caught in the shadows of the post by Catchy after racing three wide without cover for much of the 1200-metre journey.

PARIAH (Redoute’s Choice – Secluded) runs a gallant 2nd behind the filly CATCHY in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes.

Pariah returned as a Spring 3YO when he overcame an awkward draw and a weight penalty to score a stunning victory in the ATC San Domenico S. G3, in sizzling time. He then filled second spot behind Menari in the ATC Run to the Rose H. G2 with Kementari and Invader in arrears. He retires to stud with two wins, three placings and $541,000 prizemoney from 9 starts, all at Group level.

Pariah was Timeform’s second top-rated 2YO of 2016/17, given a figure of 118, just below Invader & She Will Reign (both 119), and ahead of Group 1 winners Summer Passage, Catchy, The Mission & Trapeze Artist.

Co-trainer Peter Snowden says,

“From his first gallop Pariah was just the most natural 2YO – to win a Group 3 on debut and to go so close to winning a Blue Diamond on his first preparation marks him as an exceptional juvenile.

“I know from his work at home that we never got to see the best of him – he was a top-class horse I have no doubt.”

James Harron, who also managed Pariah’s racing career, says,

“Our mission at the yearling sales is find stallions of the future, and Pariah’s profile was impeccable.

“Physically he was a truly outstanding yearling, by the pre-eminent sire of sires in Redoute’s Choice and from an exceptional colonial speed family. He fits all of our criteria as a hugely exciting stallion prospect and we will be supporting him heavily at stud with top-class mares.”

Those mares include Group 1 winner Shamal Wind and Group winners Petits Filous, Real Stolle and Scarlet Rain.

Pariah is by Redoute’s Choice, the dominant sire of sires in Australia today, with ten Group 1-siring sons including the world-class stallion Snitzel, and leading sires Not A Single Doubt, Stratum and Beneteau.

Pariah is notably a ¾ brother to the outstanding sprinter Melito (also by Redoute’s Choice) whose five wins include the ATC T.J. Smith S. G1 and Qld Tatt’s RC Winter S. G1. His dam Secluded is a city-winning daughter of Champion Sire Hussonet and Cloister, a 2YO stakes-winning daughter of Golden Slipper winner Marauding.

Pariah is thus similarly bred to Fastnet Rock, whose grand-dam is also a stakes-winning Marauding mare. Pariah’s third dam Pampas Fire was a 2YO stakeswinner and is a half-sister to 5-time Group 1 winner Zeditave, a leading sire of 7 Group 1 winners, 36 Stakeswinners and over $40 million in progeny earnings.
