Nothing silent about Showtime

The lower end of Arrowfield’s stallion roster has launched success stories like Danzero, Beneteau and best of all, leading sire Not A Single Doubt who ended his career on a fee of $110,000 and has just posted his 80th stakeswinner.

Snitzel’s Group-winning son Showtime, launched on an $11,000 fee, is bidding to emulate them and the early signs are encouraging.

His earnings received a healthy boost when 2YO colt Tacito (the Latin word for “silent”), Group 3 & Listed placed in his first two starts last month, romped clear to win Saturday’s $200,000 Magic Millions SA 2YO Classic at Murray Bridge.

The Makybe-bred Tacito was a $160,000 Magic Millions purchase from Lime Country Thoroughbreds by Lindsay Park Racing and he holds nominations for the Golden Slipper & Inglis Sires’.

He is the first winner out of Without Saying (by Sepoy from a half-sister to Redoute’s Choice) who has a colt foal by Showtime and is in foal to him again.

Tacito is trained by Ben & JD Hayes – enjoying conspicuous success with their juveniles this season – for a group of owners led by Jenny McAlpine.

Showtime’s first 8 2YO runners also include last month’s debut winner Show Royale and city-placed colts Arbat (at Doomben) & the Inglis Sires’-nominated Big Boy George (at Randwick).

Snitzel’s sire sons are certainly making their presence felt this season. Trapeze Artist (3rd), Showtime (6th) and Stratosphere (8th) are in the leading group on the Australian First Season Sires’ Premiership, while in the last eight days Russian Revolution and Invader have added Group 1 winners Communist and Sunshine In Paris to their records.

Showtime has a colt offered by Maluka Thoroughbreds & a filly in the Noorilim Park draft at the current Inglis Premier Sale, and 5 lots catalogued for Magic Millions Adelaide.
