Not A Single Doubt’s son Squamosa makes a winning debut

Not A Single Doubt ‘s latest exciting two-year-old Squamosa (ex Class Success by Success Express) completely justified trainer Gai Waterhouse’s confidence in his ability with a dominant debut win over 1150 metres at Randwick today.

The powerfully built colt jumped quickly, made the lead comfortably and once in the straight accelerated to win by three lengths. He became Not A Single Doubt’s 39th individual Australian winner this season from two crops of racing age, and the third in the past week, following wins by three-year-old Great Man at Ipswich last Friday, and two-year-old Spirited Eagle at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Squamosa was purchased for $140,000 from the Arrowfield draft at the 2009 Magic Millions Yearling Sale by Denise Martin’s Star Thoroughbreds.

The Peter Moody-trained three-year-old Doubtful Jack (Not A Single Doubt-Tootsie Roll by Marscay) will be seeking to extend his sire’s tremendous run of success when he lines up in this Saturday’s $200,000 VRC Winter Championship Final LR over 1600 metres at Flemington. Doubtful Jack has already won five races and more than $250,000, including an eye-catching five-and-a-half length defeat of older horses at Flemington on 26 June, and is the likely favourite for Saturday’s race.

Not A Single Doubt will stand the 2010 season at Arrowfield at a fee of $13,750 (incl. GST).
