Not A Single Doubt’s 15th Group 1 winner

The extraordinary story of Not A Single Doubt continued at Morphettville on Saturday when his 3YO daughter Instant Celebrity powered to victory in the $500,000 SAJC Robert Sangster S. 1200m G1.

Bred & raced by Trevor and Beth Robertson, and raised at Mill Park Stud, Instant Celebrity was given the coolest of rail-hugging rides by Craig Williams, and put the race away as soon as she broke clear in the last 100 metres.

She is Not  A Single Doubt’s third Robert Sangster winner after Miracles Of Life in 2015 and Secret Agenda in 2017.

A most attractive filly with the arresting presence implied by her name, Instant Celebrity is the best of three winners left by the dual stakeswinner Celebrity Girl (by Starcraft), herself a daughter of Dashing Granada, a Flemington stakeswinner and 4th in Lovelorn’s 2000 VRC Oaks G1. With 5 wins from seven starts and earnings of $638,000 she has thoroughly justified the Robertsons’ decision to retain and race her.

Starcraft mares are building a good record with grandsons of Danehill, a combination that has produced a total of 9 stakeswinners from 65 runners, including Stronger (also by Not A Single Doubt) and Muraaqeb & Snickerdoodledandy (both by Snitzel).

Instant Celebrity is one of the eight stakeswinners leading what is almost certainly Not A Single Doubt’s last, best chance to win an Australian Sires’ Premiership. Her Thousand Guineas Prelude G2 success and Guineas G1 third helped him reach the No. 1 spot last Spring and her Group 1 victory has now helped him regain it. It’s a remarkable achievement with fewer runners than all but two other stallions in the top 10.

Not A Single Doubt’s domestic season earnings now exceed $14 million – the best tally of his career – and he has a $150,000 lead on Written Tycoon.

It’s game on for the final quarter of 2020/21!
