Not A Single Doubt heads 2YO Sires list
Arrowfield’s outstanding young sire Not A Single Doubt now heads the Australian 2YO Sires’ list after his 2YO daughter Karuta Queen (ex Card Queen by Final Card) romped home in today’s $200,000 Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Stakes over 1000 metres.
A $30,000 purchase by Glenn Williams from breeder Stuart Ramsey’s Turangga Farm draft at the 2010 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Karuta Queen, pictured right, made it look easy, kicking clear to win by more than two lengths from the speedy Arrowfield-bred debutante Schiffer ( Snitzel – Modave by Montjeu) with the AJC Gimcrack S. LR winner Defiant Dame in third place.
Karuta Queen has now won all three of her starts and prizemoney of $274,000 and, all going well, will now head to the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic on 15 January.
Not A Single Doubt’s season has been nothing short of sensational with new stars rising at every turn: outstanding 3YO sprinter Squamosa, impressive 4YOs Doubtful Jack (in Melbourne) and Always Certain (in Singapore), and now an eye-catching chestnut filly who has blossomed in the care of Queanbeyan trainer Neville Layt.
Himself second to Dance Hero in the 2004 Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Not A Single Doubt is also third on the current Australian 3rd Season Sires’ list with 30 winners and $1.3 million prizemoney. Twelve yearlings by Not A Single Doubt are catalogued for the 2011 Magic Million Gold Coast Yearling Sale, including Lot 578, a brother to Group 2-placed Sweepstaking , from the family of Group winners Tennessee Vain & Tennessee Morn, SW Tennesee Midnight and SW Tennessee Mist.
