No Doubt About Samadoubt
For anyone in doubt of Samadoubt’s first up Group 1 victory this season, it was quickly laid to rest with a sensational front running win in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Working to the lead from a wide gate, the son of Not A Single Doubt (ex Isadora) held a strong lead over his rivals before quickening at the 300m and strolling home by three and a quarter lengths.

“He’s just gone to a new level this time in. He was a lot more comfortable today over the mile.” said Jockey Tim Clark
“There was nothing going to be able to run him down.”
Whilst trainer Bjorn Baker wasn’t overly surprised by the horse’s dominant performance, he didn’t have any definite plans for his immediate future.

“That was pretty darn impressive, I have to say” said Baker.
“His work since his last win, has been nothing less than sensational. He is big and strong and he’s never been better.”
“Going forward, he has a lot of options, but we will take it one step at a time. We will probably keep him at a mile, but he is an exciting prospect.”
A $40,000 purchase from the draft of Riversdale Farm at the 2015 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Samadoubt has now taken his earnings to $937,510 and 10 wins from 36 starts for connections which has been an exciting ride from running as a two year old in the Listed Breeder’s Plate through to his first Group 1 as a 6 year old this season.
Whilst a Caulfield Cup nomination is in place, the George Main Stakes is Samadoubt’s likely next target on 21st September at Royal Randwick.
Samadoubt’s victory adds to what is already a stellar start to the season for Not Single Doubt with three consecutive weeks of Group victories for his progeny making him early leader on the sires’ premiership.
