Nine first-crop winners for Snitzel
Arrowfield’s first season sire Snitzel posted his ninth individual Australian winner when his two-year-old son Primal Instinct (ex Who’s That Lady by Star Way) finished strongly over 1250m at Morphettville on Saturday to win his second start for trainer Michael Hibbs.
A half-brother to the very good racemare La Bella Dama (seven wins incl. VRC MacKinnon S. G1), Primal Instinct was bred by Robert Clemenger’s Select Bloodstock Pty Ltd and sold for $70,000 from the Bellerive Stud draft at the 2009 Melbourne Premier Sale.
Already the sire of a first-crop Group winner (Chance Bye, winner of the STC Silver Slipper S. G2), Snitzel is second on the Australian 1st Season Sires’ list (by earnings) with just over $1.1 million prizemoney. He’s also enjoying success with his first-crop two-year-olds in Japan, with two winners, Floreal and Rurinigana, and a placegetter, Uluru, in the past few weeks.
Snitzel, a brilliantly fast son of Redoute’s Choice and winner of seven races including the MRC Oakleigh Plate G1, stands the 2010 season at a fee of $27,500 (inc. GST).
