New stakeswinner for damsire Flying Spur

You’re So Good‘s class has been evident from the start of her career, only 14 weeks ago when she won on debut at Moonee Valley.

Since then the 3YO Savabeel filly has been second three times, most recently in the VRC Australian Guineas G1, where she split the colts Ferlax and Sheer Talent.

Tonight she started favourite in the MVRC $120,000 Alexandra S. 1600m LR and made the task of achieving stakes-winning status look easy, with a 1.5 length defeat of her seven rivals.

You’re So Good is the 37th stakeswinner out of daughters of champion sire Flying Spur , and the 7th in Australia this season.

A trip to Sydney is now almost certain. Her trainer Nigel Blackiston said afterwards, “”We’ll just be careful, we’ll see how she pulls up and we’ll monitor her over the next week but I’d like to take her to Sydney for the Vinery (Stud Stakes).

“”We have put in a nomination for the (ATC Australian) Oaks but whether we get that far, time will tell.?

You’re So Good’s dam Lightning Spur was a winner and is the dam of four runners by Savabeel, all of which have won – a fine record for any broodmare. She’s also a three-quarter sister to dual Group 1 winner Melito (by Redoute’s Choice), from the juvenile stakeswinner Cloister.

Flying Spur mares have 17 yearlings in next month’s Inglis Australian Easter Sale, including six by stallions that have already sired stakeswinners out of Flying Spur mares, and two by first season sire Manhattan Rain, in the Arrowfield draft, here .
