New season, new stakeswinner for Not A Single Doubt

New season, new stakeswinner for Not A Single Doubt

Last spring it was Flying Spur who posted the season’s first Arrowfield-sired stakeswinner, courtesy of the speedy filly Satin Shoes.

First out of the gates this year is Not A Single Doubt who added a 10th individual stakeswinner to his record when Cavallo Pazzo was successful in yesterday’s $80,000 WATC Belmont Newmarket H. 1200m LR.

The 5YO gelding exemplifies the competitiveness and consistency that have made Not A Single Doubt one of Australia’s most popular sires with breeders & buyers in the past two seasons.

Contrary to his name – Italian for “crazy horse” – Cavallo Pazzo has proved to be a thoroughly reliable performer, compiling seven wins, 11 placings and almost $340,000 from 25 starts.

Today he stormed home to defeat Gum Nut Guru by one and a quarter lengths with Our Ol’ Fella a half-length back in third.

“He’s been a good horse to us and to win a race like this is a real good thrill,” said his trainer Ted Martinovich.

“Every time he has had a bit of a break and come back he’s actually improved a bit and that’s what they’ve got to do to go to this level and fortunately that’s what he’s done today.”

Cavallo Pazzo’s next appearance will be in the 1300-metre Goodwood Sprint LR at Belmont on 25 August.

From the Euclase mare Annuity, a city-winning half-sister to G1 Aragen, Cavallo Pazzo was purchased for $22,000 by Commercial Bloodstock from his breeder Warrick Duthy at the 2009 Adelaide Magic Millions Sale.

He is the fourth winner, and second stakes performer from only four named foals by Not A Single Doubt out of mares by sons of Century.

Not A Single Doubt, represented in 2011/12 by six stakeswinners worldwide, already has nine winners and more than $220,000 prizemoney in Australia after 12 days of the new season. He stands at a 2012 fee of $24,750 inc. GST.
