New record price for Not A Single Doubt yearling
The positive chat about Arrowfield Stud’s Not A Single Doubt-Spontaneous colt at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale today turned into a $380,000 winning bid by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
That’s a new all-time record price for a yearling by Not A Single Doubt, who posted his 21st career stakeswinner at the end of December. The colt is the third foal of Group 1 winner Spontaneous, a Chilean-bred daughter of champion sire Hussonet purchased by Arrowfield in 2008.
As reported by Darryl Sherer for Breednet, HKJC representative Mark Richards said of the colt, “He moves well, he’s an athlete, he’s as nice a Not A Single Doubt as I have seen and when you find the right horse you have to be prepared to go a bid or two more and that’s what we did.”
Not A Single Doubt is doing well in Hong Kong with seven winners there, notably the HK-3-placed multiple winner Tai Sing Yeh,Triumphant Jewel, Victorius, Seasons Star and the progressive recent winner Charity Joy.
Not A Single Doubt’s top-priced filly on the opening day of the first sale of 2014 was Amarina Farm’s filly from the stakes-placed mare Tremezzo (by Encosta de Lago). At $190,000 she was the most expensive of eight purchases made by leading syndicator Star Thoroughbreds, which announced a new partnership with champion trainer Chris Waller on the eve of the sale.
Star Thoroughbreds has previously enjoyed great success with Not A Single Doubt’s son Squamosa, a Group 3 winner and a close second in the STC Golden Rose S. G1.
Not A Single Doubt has 30 lots on offer at the Magic Millions and six of them sold today for an average price of $195,000 – more than 8 times his 2011 service fee. Arrowfield is also selling a pair of Not A Single Doubt fillies: Lot 301, from Group 1 winner Covertly (by Metal Storm), and Lot 613, from the Red Ransom mare Negotiate, a member of the Denise’s Joy family. The outstanding son of Redoute’s Choice has notched up four stakeswinners so far this season, including Group 2-winning 3YO filly Gypsy Diamond and impressive 2YO stakeswinner Risen From Doubt. He will be represented in Saturday’s rich Magic Millions races by Totally Sure (2YO Classic) and recent stakeswinner Into the Red (3YO Guineas).
