Te Akau Racing’s 3YO filly Origin Of Love is the 4th Group winner – after the colts Beadman, Blitzburg & Skyhook – from Arrowfield’s 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast draft, and stakeswinner no. 162 for champion sire Snitzel.
She prevailed in a tight battle for the NZ$100,000 CJC War Decree S. 1600m G3 at Riccarton, gaining her 2nd win in four starts and confirming that she is on track for the NZ 1000 Guineas G1 over the same course & distance on 8 November.
Her stablemate War Of Silence (Snitzel-Silent Sedition), purchased by Te Akau syndicator David Ellis from Arrowfield’s Inglis Easter draft, was third.

Origin Of Love’s jockey Joe Doyle said, “She’s a talented filly. She travelled a bit strongly and she’s still a touch green, so there’s more in there, but she’s a very likeable filly. We got a split when we needed it and she’s a nice filly. She’s got a good constitution.”
Co-trainer Mark Walker added, “She’s a filly with a really good pedigree, being by the late, great, Snitzel, and a good ride to match her effort by Joe Doyle.
“She was a great-walking filly when we first saw her at the Magic Millions Sale on the Gold Coast, and she’s continued to improve and she’s peaking at the right time for the 1000 Guineas.”

Bred by Arrowfield & Northern Farm and purchased for $440,000 by David Ellis, Origin Of Love is the first foal of Re Edit (by Camelot), who won in Sydney & Melbourne and was third as a 3YO in the P.J. O’Shea S. G2 over 2200m at Doomben.
The family traces to the 1971 New Zealand Broodmare of the Year Froth, whose 51 stakes-winning descendants include Group 1 winners Horlicks (Japan Cup), Brew (Melbourne Cup), Monaco Consul (Victoria Derby), Mr Quickie (Queensland Derby), Communist (Randwick Guineas) and leading sire General Nediym.
Re Edit has a 2YO Snitzel colt in the stable of her own trainer Chris Waller and a yearling full sister to Origin Of Love. She is due to foal to Maurice this Spring.
Origin Of Love is the 10th New Zealand stakeswinner for Snitzel, whose Australian record was also boosted on Saturday by Transatlantic’s exuberant 2.2 length victory in the $1 million Five Diamonds Prelude at Randwick. The Tony Gollan-trained 5YO gelding has hit top form this season, winning the Toorak H. G1 a fortnight ago and taking his career earnings close to $1.9 million.
He is currently this season’s major earner for his champion sire, who heads the current Australian General Sires’ Premiership by stakes wins with a tally of six that also includes Baraqiel’s Moir S. G1.
