New All American 2YO winner for Darby Racing

A week after Golden Slipper prospect Yankee Rose won so well at Rosehill, Darby Racing has unleashed a second eye-catching 2YO by All American.

This time it was the colt Rampage who won his debut in Saturday’s $80,000 MVRC John Paraskevas Plate over 1000 metres. He showed plenty of grit and pace, after racing wide most of the way, to catch Giroux on the line, with Legerity (by Snitzel) a further length away in third.

Watch Rampage’s debut win at Moonee Valley.

Yankee Rose & Rampage are All American’s only juvenile starters so far this season and they have shot him to second position on the Australian 2YO Sires’ list with $221,200 prizemoney, less than $25,000 behind his barnmate Not A Single Doubt.

Co-trainer David Hayes, who also prepared All American to win on debut at Moonee Valley in 2007, immediately confirmed that Rampage would go to Sydney for the $500,000 Inglis Nursery (R) LR at Randwick on 12 December.

He said, “I think he’s a smart horse. He’ll be hard to beat (in Sydney) because he was three-wide the trip and he’s got a lot of improvement left in him. With a $500,000 race and an in-form horse, we’ve got to go for it.

“I thought he’d run well but there were some big wraps on horses in this race. He hasn’t been overly schooled to get here so I’m thrilled.”

Originally sold by Arrowfield at the 2014 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, Rampage was a $20,000 buy for Darby Racing from the Denns Park draft at this year’s Inglis Classic Summer Sale.

Rampage’s dam is the Danzero mare Sleight of Hand, a daughter of champion New Zealand 2YO Lodore Magic, whose grand-daughter Illusionary (by Hussonet) has left the smart juvenile Invisible to All American.

Arrowfield’s 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast draft includes Illusionary’s second All American colt as Lot 319.

Other All American yearlings in Arrowfield’s Magic Millions draft are Lot 920, the Catalina Winemixer colt, a close relation of Yankee Rose; and Lot 373, the filly from a Hussonet daughter of champion filly Alinghi.
