Mr Snitzel strikes again

He trained Snitzel to Group 1 success. He has already trained eight winners by Snitzel, including his Group 2-winning son Hot Snitzel, Group-placed Top Drop, and stakes-placed Hollyweird, Saramenha and Schiffer.

This morning “Mr Snitzel” aka Gerald Ryan struck again, when his four Snitzel 2YOs all won at the Rosehill trials in Sydney.

First up was the Arrowfield & Jungle Pocket-bred colt Amorino (ex Steal My Love by Marauding), a $70,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast purchase for Elio Galante and family. He won his 900-metre trial by 1.5 lengths in 56.37 seconds.

Next came Cordelia, a cleverly named filly from the Stravinsky mare Evil Sisters. Her winning margin was a length and her time was 55.34. Bred by William Dunlop’s Roverford Pty Ltd, Cordelia was sold by Sefton Park at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale to Darby Bloodstock for $50,000.

The Hong Kong Breeders Club was responsible for Ryan’s third trial winner by Snitzel, the colt Dances On Stars (NZ) (ex Starnet by Last Tycoon), a $NZ95,000 Dynamic Syndications buy from the Highview Stud draft at the New Zealand Premier Sale. Dances On Stars won by 0.3 length in a time of 54.94.

The last of the Snitzel quartet posted the fastest 900-metre time of the day, 54.68. Brilliant Snitzel, the filly from Heart Of Diamonds (by New Regent), bred by John Pasculli in partnership with Arrowfield, was purchased for $80,000 by Triple Crown Syndications from the Bellerive Stud draft at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.

Gerald Ryan’s “Team Snitzel” has already won a total of 16 races and prizemoney of more than $1.4 million, and the stable has every reason to be confident of further success with Snitzel’s progeny this season.

Other leading trainers who purchased Snitzel yearlings earlier this year include Gai Waterhouse, Peter Moody, Mark Kavanagh, Paul Perry and Tony Noonan.

Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice-Snippets’ Lass by Snippets) is the sire of ten stakes performers from his first two Australian crops, headed by juvenile Group 2 winners Hot Snitzel, Chance Bye & Salade.
