Miss Gai Flyer adds 2nd stakes win

Flying Spur’s 3YO daughter Miss Gai Flyer continued her return to top form when she prevailed in tonight’s Typhoon Tracy S. 1200m LR at Moonee Valley.

In the inaugural running of the race honouring the recently retired Australian Horse of the Year, Miss Gai Flyer settled in behind the speed and finished strongly to catch Obsequious and win by a nose.

It was Miss Gai Flyer’s second Listed Stakes win in two starts this preparation and took her record to four wins from eight starts, and $252,088 prizemoney for her owners Gary & Wendy Pfeiler of Sunlands Produce.

Trained by Peter Moody, who also prepared Typhoon Tracy, Miss Gai Flyer (ex Power of One by Gilded Time) was purchased for $250,000 by Damon Gabbedy’s Belmont Bloodstock from the draft of breeder Torryburn Stud at the 2009 Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Flying Spur, champion sire of Australia in 2007, is the sire of four stakeswinners this season and 79 stakeswinners in all (7.2% of his runners).

Miss Gai Flyer will now go to the $500,000 VRC Kewney S. G2 on 12 March.
