Magic Millions goal for Euphoric Summer

Not A Single Doubt’s summer 2YO prospects appear to be, well…euphoric, after his daughter Euphoric Summer scored a tenacious victory in Saturday’s $250,000 Ballarat TC Magic Millions Clockwise Classic over 1000 metres.

Second to Tanker on debut six weeks ago in the MRC Debutant S. LR, Euphoric Summer is now firmly on track for the $2 million Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YO Classic (R) LR.

Co-trainer Michael Kent said, “She’s a natural and all roads lead to January 11.”

“She has talent, but more importantly, she has the right brain, nothing gets in her way. She walked around here and cantered to the start nicely. She’s got good tactical speed and now we have the luxury of taking our time.

“We can give her a little break and probably get up there three weeks before the race, acclimatise to the weather and maybe give her one run into the Magic Millions.”

The Gold Coast feature is already on Not A Single Doubt’s record, thanks to another flying chestnut filly, Karuta Queen in 2011.

Euphoric Summer was bred by Bruce Neill’s Cressfield from Group 1-winning sprinter Mid Summer Music (by Oamaru Force). She was bought at Magic Millions for $260,000 by the Dubai-based global racing operation Phoenix Thoroughbreds.

The filly’s Ballarat success was a major milestone for her owners, the Phoenix Ladies Syndicate, because she is their first winner outside the United Arab Emirates. The Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YO Classic carries a $500,000 bonus for the first horse past the post that is entirely owned by women.

Euphoric Summer is Not A Single Doubt’s 180th individual 2YO winner and joined The Gong’s very game runner-up Quackerjack to spear-head a $400,000 weekend for the much-admired son of Redoute’s Choice. That takes him well past $4 million prizemoney for the season, and about $1.4 million past his Australian progeny earnings this time a year ago.

There are 20 fillies and 18 colts by Not A Single Doubt catalogued for the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, including four fillies and a colt offered by Arrowfield.
