Into The Red back in the black
Not A Single Doubt notched up his fourth stakeswinner in six weeks when his 4YO son Into The Red shot through on the rail to win Saturday’s $100,000 BRC Ascot H. 1200m LR at Doomben by more than two lengths in race record time of 1:09.22.
It was the gelding’s first return to the winner’s stall since December 2013 when he won the BRC Gold Edition Plate LR, but his career since then has been spent almost entirely in stakes company, reflecting the assessment of his talent by trainer Kelso Wood.
Bred by Todd McKeon & partners, Into The Red was a $100,000 purchase by John Foote from Goodwood Farm’s draft at the 2012 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.
He has now earned more than $230,000 for his owners, Queensland property developer David Devine & his wife Diane, Mick Power, Neville Morgan & AFL legend Leigh Matthews, who also raced Snitzel’s Group 1-winning son Sizzling.
Not A Single Doubt’s latest series of black type highlights began on 11 April, when 2YO The Grey Flash won the SAJC Sires’ Produce S. G3.
A week later Gypsy Diamond added the ATC Japan Racing Association Plate G3, and on 2 May Miracles Of Life scored her second Group win, in the SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes.
Not A Single Doubt is currently 5th on the Australian 2YO Sires’ list and 10th on the General table, with 111 winners and season earnings of $5.7 million.
