Interstate stakes double for Written Tycoon
Written Tycoon celebrated his arrival at Arrowfield this week with a two-state stakes double on Saturday, courtesy of a pair of 3YOs, Hightail in Queensland and his 34th stakeswinner, Dirty Work in Sydney.
He’s here! A very special arrival to @ArrowfieldStud this afternoon. @Woodside_Park’s Written Tycoon arrived in spectacular order and we couldn’t be more excited to have him on this side of the border! #welcomeWT@TDNAusNZ @anz_news @breednet @Racing @rs_bloodstock @Paulmessara pic.twitter.com/EseLrQoxgx

After just 14 starts Hightail has built an impressively consistent record of success in quality company and on Saturday he added the $125,000 Gold Coast Guineas 1200m G3 to his Gosford Guineas LR win three starts ago.
Fifth career victory for #WrittenTycoon’s Hightail as the 3yo wins the G3 Gold Coast Guineas @GCTurfClub for @SnowdenRacing1. Congrats to the winning connections inc. @NewgateFarm, @Chinahorseclub, @WinStarFarm & @G1G_Racing 👏🏼@VicStallions @VicStallions @mmsnippets @TDNAusNZ pic.twitter.com/2tEmntXvQ9

Bred by Woodside Park Stud out of the Falvelon mare La Paris (again in foal to Written Tycoon), Hightail is from the family of Group 1 winner Dashing Eagle & Group winners Single Bullet, Osborne Bulls & Viridine. He was a $520,000 purchase from Woodside’s 2018 Magic Millions draft for the consortium of Newgate Farm, China Horse Club & Winstar which now races him with partners and he’s trained by Peter & Paul Snowden.
Jockey Ryan Maloney gave support to the stable’s earlier suggestion that Hightail’s current campaign might include a Group 1 target.
“You would think so off that, he would get in with a really light weight, he makes his own luck, he is very honest and he has got that black type quality that can run really well in a Stradbroke.”
Dirty Work scored a particularly appropriate win in the Arrowfield-sponsored $112,000 Ortensia S. 1100m LR at the Scone Racing Club’s meeting at Rosehill. The Hawkes-trained colt has made rapid progress to win his last three starts after four promising efforts in stakes company earlier this season.
Bred by Rifa Mustang and bought for $800,000 from Sledmere Stud at Inglis Easter by Spendthrift Farm, Dirty Work is the second foal of Maidel (by Ad Valorem), a half-sister to Group winner Gamay and stakeswinner Meidung. Maidel has a yearling filly by Written Tycoon.
Written Tycoon’s 2017 crop also chipped in on Saturday when his -ahem! – cheekily named daughter Kissonallforcheeks (ex Rosie Rocket by Blackfriars) added a second straight win to her four-start record in Perth.
The 2016 Champion Sire of 2YOs is fourth by winners on this season’s list with a tally of 10, including VRC Talindert S. LR winner Ole Kirk.
