Hussonet’s Group 1 Golden Trail
Arrowfield Stud based Hussonet (USA) has hit top form on the eve of the 2010 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast with a new Group One winner in Gold Trail and a three year-old filly destined for stakes company in smart Rosehill winner Girl Hussler.
HUSSONET (USA) exited the 2009 Spring as the sire of two highly promising sprinters in Sydney and Melbourne in GOLD TRAIL (ex Trail Of Gold, by Danewin) winner of the G2 AJC The Shorts and EAGLE FALLS (ex Desina, by Desert King (IRE)) winner of the G2 VRC Salinger Stakes.
Gold Trail went one further last Friday, the chestnut 5YO from Hussonet’s first Australian crop securing the G1 Railway Stakes (1200m) with a brilliant barrier to post victory in the Ellerslie (NZ) event.
Gold Trail becomes the 27th individual Group 1 winner for Hussonet – a stallion responsible for more Group 1 winners than any other stallion at stud in Australia today.
In addition to Gold Trail, in Australia Hussonet has sired G1 Blue Diamond winner REAAN (ex Ribe, by Danehill (USA)) and 7-time G1 winner, Australian Racehorse of the Year and World Champion 3YO Sprinter (Turf) WEEKEND HUSSLER (ex Weekend Beauty, by Helissio (FR)).
Hussonet is the most dominant active sire-son of Mr. Prospector at stud, being the sire of more than 125 black type performers and 19 Champions. A true blueblood he is out of the regally bred Raja Baba mare Sacahuista herself a G1 winner at two, Champion 3YO Filly of USA , all the way winner of the Breeders Cup Distaff, and an Eclipse Award Winner.
Hussonet is also the most successful Northern Dancer-free stallion at stud in Australia on a SW/foals basis. Not surprisingly 16 of Hussonet’s 27 G1 winners have been bred from Northern Dancer line mares including of course Gold Trail who is from the classy Danewin mare Trail Of Gold.
Also bred on this cross is the smart LATIN NEWS, one of the favourites for next Saturday’s $1 million Magic Million 3YO Classic.
The Magic Millions Premier catalogue features 30 lots by Hussonet including a full sister to Gold Trail and a sister-in-blood to Weekend Hussler
