Honorine makes it a Group treble for Redoute’s Choice

With a international Group race double in the bag, thanks to Tango’s Daughter in Adelaide, and the brilliant 2YO filly Majmu at Turffontein, Redoute’s Choice could have signed off for the weekend, well-satisfied with an excellent day’s work.

But, no, he wasn’t quite finished yet. His 4YO daughter Honorine lined up in the fnal race at Turffontein, the Camellia Stakes over 1160m G2 for owner Mary Slack’s Wilgerbosdrift and trainer Mike de Kock who expected her to run well after a cramped run last time out.

Honorine duly won by a half-length from fellow Australian-bred Tiger Quest to become the 113th career stakeswinner for Redoute’s Choice, and the 18th stakeswinner from his stellar 2009 crop.

The daughter of Zaldivar (by Honour and Glory) was bred by Arrowfield and purchased for $80,000 by Form Bloodstock from the 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. She joins Snitzerland (VRC Lightning S. G1), Group 2 winner Flying Snitzel, champion Singapore 3YO Stepitup and Listed Race winner Road Trippin’ as stakes-winning graduates from Arrowfield’s draft at that Sale.

Honorine had shown juvenile promise, winning her first two starts and being Group 1-placed at two. The Camellia Stakes is her fourth win and makes her a valuable future breeding prospect for Wilgerbosdrift, established almost 20 years ago in the Western Cape region and now one of South Africa’s leading studs.

Back in Australia, Redoute’s Choice has become the first stallion this season to top $9 million prizemoney as he chases his third Australian General Sires’ premiership.  He is available to breeders in 2014 at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST.
