Hitotsu’s talent meets abundant opportunity
“Where talent meets opportunity” is the translation of the Sanskrit message engraved on the Indian Premier League cricket trophy.
It’s equally applicable to the business of launching stallions, with the aim of turning them into champions, like the Chennai Super Kings & Kolkata Knight Riders.
The talent of Arrowfield’s young sire Hitotsu is unquestionable, after his consecutive Group 1 victories in the 2021 Victoria Derby and 2022 Australian Guineas & Australian Derby. It’s a feat that had been unmatched since champion Mahogany’s sweep of 1993/94, although unlike Hitotsu, he raced twice between each Classic win.
Tick off the opportunity part of the equation too, thanks to the impressive book of 162 mares sent to Hitotsu last Spring by 100 individual breeders.
Arrowfield, alone & in partnership, sent a total of 36 mares – important because Arrowfield has a consistent record of breeding early stakeswinners by its own stallions. For example, two of The Autumn Sun’s first four stakeswinners, Group 1 winner Autumn Angel and Group 2 winner Autumn Ballet, are Arrowfield graduates.
Hitotsu’s First Book of In-Foal Mares includes:
