Happy Zero finalist for Hong Kong award

Danzero ‘s brilliant son Happy Zero (pictured right) is a finalist for the inaugural Aushorse Marketing Australian-bred Hong Kong Champion Award, to be announced on 11 September.

The other two finalists are Sacred Kingdom and One World, and the winner will be announced at a gala event held in conjunction with the VRC’s 150 year celebration of the Melbourne Cup.

Happy Zero started eight times last season for three wins: HKJC Sha Tin Sprint Trophy HK-3, Cathay Pacific International Sprint Trial HK-2 & Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup HK-1, and four placings, including second to Good Ba Ba in the Hong Kong Mile G1, and a fast-finishing third to Green Birdie and Rocket Man in the Singapore TC Krisflyer International Sprint.

Bred by Mr K.F. Leung and trained by John Moore for owner David Boehm, Happy Zero was sold at the 2006 Australia Easter Yearling Sale for $425,000 – the second-highest price paid for a Danzero yearling.

Meanwhile, in the first month of the new Australian season, Danzero has already been represented by 11 winners. With a lifetime record of more than 500 winners, including 7 Group 1 winners among 35 stakeswinners, Danzero is a particularly good option for a young mare at his 2010 fee of $16,500 (inc. GST).
