Group One treble – #3: I Am Excited’s Galaxy
Arrowfield’s unforgettable 90 minutes at Rosehill on Golden Slipper Day 2020 concluded with the aptly named I Am Excited who became Snitzel’s 14th Group 1 winner in the $700,000 ATC The Galaxy 1100m G1.
Already the winner of four stakes races, two of them at Group 2 level, I Am Excited came into the race “going probably the best of her career”, according to her trainer David Pfieffer.
“She’s a great mare, she has a real racehorse attitude and it is a real pleasure having her around the stables. I don’t want to say she trains herself because I don’t want her taken off me, but I wish every horse had her mentality and attitude.”
The final Group 1 on #GoldenSlipper Day was definitely cause for excitement!

I Am Excited (ex Lady Beckworth by General Nediym) is raced in partnership by her breeders Andrew & Georgie Ferguson and their sons James & Jock, whose Bell River Thoroughbreds operation has also produced Group 1 winners Extreme Choice & Ace High.
The now very valuable 5YO mare has earned $1.2 million from 7 wins and nine placings in a 27-start career.
Andrew, still on Cloud 9 on Sunday afternoon, said I Am Excited’s likely next race will be the $300,000 ATC Sapphire S. 1200m G2 at Randwick on 11 April.
I Am Excited and Golden Slipper runner-up Away Game were the major contributors to Snitzel’s massive $1.1 million weekend. That has taken the three-time Champion Sire back into second spot on the current Australian General Sires’ Premiership, with only Pierro in front of him.
However, Snitzel leads the Sires’ table by stakeswinners with a season tally to date of 12.
