First Stakeswinner for Redoute’s Choice as a broodmare sire

While Redoute’s Choice ‘s racing daughters Melito and Mirrasalo were busy at Eagle Farm pushing him to the No. 1 position on the Australian General Sires’ list, another daughter was making history of a different kind on the same card.

A member of Redoute’s Choice’s first crop, foaled in 2001, One In A Million today became the dam of his first stakeswinner as a broodmare sire, when her two-year-old son Shamillion (by Shamardal) won the BRC Australia Post S. LR.

One In A Million (ex Happen by Zeditave) made her racetrack debut as a summer three-year-old and won her first two starts before adding that all-important black-type to her name with placings in four Group & Listed Stakes events.

Retired to stud in 2006, she has made a perfect start to her breeding career with Shamillion, who is followed by a 2008 Hussonet colt (sold for $120,000 at the 2010 Australian Easter Yearling Sale), and a 2009 filly by Charge Forward. All three have been bred by Mr G.J. Fischl, who also raced One In A Million and her stakes-winning dam Happen (by Zeditave).

Trained at Eagle Farm by Barry Baldwin, Shamillion was ridden by Shane Scriven who told Thoroughbred News after the race, “He is a lovely horse this, I think we will put him in the paddock and you will see him back here in twelve months’ time and you will see him win another big race.”
