First Kentucky-bred winner by All American

Exciting young Arrowfield sire All American posted his first Kentucky-bred winner in New York last Friday.

2YO filly Hail Cornell  (ex Cayuga’s Waters by Danzig’s son Langfuhr) won a $US52,000 maiden over a mile on turf at Belmont Park despite showing some greenness in the straight.  After missing the start, she took up the chase, drove to the front as the field turned for home and, despite shying away from the whip, held on willingly to score by a half-length in a time of 1:35.60.

It was Hail Cornell’s third start after a debut fourth and then a close-up, though unplaced effort behind Lady Eli at Saratoga on 25 August. Lady Eli franked that form with success in the Belmont Miss Grillo S. G3 at her next start.

Trained by Bill Mott for owner-breeder Brant Laue, Hail Cornell is a half-sister to stakes winners Glorious View and Cascadilla Falls. Laue raced their dam Cayuga’s Waters to a Listed victory in the Pebbles Stakes at Belmont Park.

All American (Red Ransom-Milva by Strawberry Road) travelled to Kentucky for a single season at Darby Dan Farm in 2011.

Eight winners have already emerged from his first Australian crop, notably Group 3 2YO winner Bachman, the stakes-placed pair Tender & Zebulon, and city winners Invisible and Lady Trickster.
