Farnan far too good in Silver Slipper

Champion trainer Gai Waterhouse has a seventh Golden Slipper in her sights after Not A Single Doubt’s son Farnan scored an easy 3.3 length win in Saturday’s $250,000 ATC Silver Slipper S. 1100m G2.

It was the colt’s third win in a four-start career that includes December’s Wyong Magic Millions 2yo Classic RLR and it earned him ballot exemption for the Golden Slipper. He is now on the second line of betting for the $3.5 million prize, alongside behind Blue Diamond winner Tagaloa.

Jockey Hugh Bowman, happy to fill in for Farnan’s regular rider Tim Clark, expressed succinct confidence in Farnan’s prospects.

“Good young colt. Dominant performance that felt as good as it looked. He’ll make his presence felt in the Golden Slipper.”

One of Not A Single Doubt’s 25 juvenile stakeswinners, Farnan is the sixth foal of Group 3 winner Tallow (by Street Cry), also the dam of dual stakeswinner Sandbar (by Snitzel), and now in foal to The Autumn Sun.

Presented at the 2019 Magic Millions Sale by Vinery Stud, Farnan was bought for $550,000 by Aquis Farm & his breeder Phoenix Thoroughbred.

Not A Single Doubt is compiling yet another top-class season with 7 winners of 10 worldwide stakes races already on the board. He holds third spot on the Australian 2YO Sires’ table, and is 9th on the General list with $6.8 million prizemoney.

Now retired from stud duties, the son of Redoute’s Choice has four colts and a filly in the Melbourne Premier Sale in early March, and 24 lots in the Inglis Easter catalogue, including four colts and two fillies offered by Arrowfield.
