Dundeel – Looking Ahead

The 2024/25 season produced plenty of highlights for Dundeel as a sire, sire of sires and broodmare sire. And there's plenty more excitement to come! (PHOTO: Joan Faras)

During the 2024/25 season Dundeel boosted his career record to 66 stakes performers, 37 stakeswinners & 9 Group 1 winners; and he finished among Australia’s top 10 active sires of the season by prizemoney, stakeswinners, winners & Group-winning fillies.

Here’s what’s happening next:

Major talent returns

  • Group 1 winner Femminile stays in training for new owner Yulong and new trainer Chris Waller. So do Group winners Red Aces (Nick Ryan), Litzdeel (Danny O’Brien) & Jasmin Rouge (Clinton McDonald); Group 1-placed Polymnia (John O’Shea & Tom Charlton); and promising Sydney & Melbourne winners Idle Flyer (Matthew Smith), Ella Hazel (Richard Litt), and Deal N’ Dash & Stardeel (Bjorn Baker).

Emerging talent

  • One to watch this season is the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Sirius Legend, the half-brother to Hong Kong Derby winner Cap Ferrat.
  • Joining him in the same stable is Is It Spectacular, an impressive Warwick Farm maiden winner before stepping into the Champagne Stakes. He might be a Spring Champion colt.
  • We’re also looking forward to the return of Epimeles, a stakeswinner at two for the Busuttin & Young team.
