Danzylum heads Danzero’s magic day
Arrowfield’s marvellous proven sire Danzero added $300,000 to his season’s prizemoney within an hour this afternoon, thanks to Danzylum in Melbourne, and Zero Rock & Startsmeup in Queensland.
The turbo earnings boost takes him inside Australia’s top 25 sires this season with earnings of $1,749,700.
David & Diane Devine‘s outstanding mare 5YO Zero Rock, already a two-time stakeswinner this season, opened the day’s action for Danzero with a tenacious second in the GCTC Magic Millions Cup over 1400 metres.
Forty minutes later, Glenn Heran‘s homebred 3YO gelding Startsmeup landed the biggest cheque – for $150,000 – of his 12-start career when he finished second in the GCTC Magic Millions Guineas at the same distance.
Ten minutes after that, 7YO gelding Danzylum (ex Political Asylum by Plush) claimed his second VRC Chester Manifold S. 1400m LR with a strong front-running performance, characterised by his trademark grit.
As reported by Racing & Sports, trainer Robbie Griffiths’ stable foreman Don Healy said, “He is just very strong, very honest and has got the temperament to go with it.
“Once he gets in front, and he’s rated and can roll along at his speed, they just can’t get past him.”
Danzylum, owned by S. Mott, V. Mure, Janet Gaist, J. Smith, G & Mrs E. J. McGregor, A. G. Penglase, M. G. Rothschild & H. J. Jolly, is now likely to head to the MRC John Dillon Stakes 1400m LR on Australia Day, 26 January.
Together, these three horses have won 24 races and more than $1.5 million prizemoney.
