Danzero’s Australia Day treble
Cranbourne trainer Robbie Griffiths set his team for summer racing and it’s paying off with a great run of success to which Danzero’s wonderfully genuine son Danzylum (ex Political Asymlum by Plush) has been a major contributor.

Today the 7YO gelding, bred by Rob & Yvonne Crabtree, won his second Listed Race in 12 days when he led all the way in the $100,000 MRC John Dillon S. LR over his favourite 1400-metre distance, defeating Wind Shear ( Flying Spur ) by 1.75 lengths. He won his second VRC Chester Manifold S. LR on 15 January in similar fashion and now boasts a record of 13 wins, 15 placings, and almost $650,000 prizemoney.
Danzylum headed an Australia Day treble for Danzero , also represented by 4YO mare Sezero (ex Seattle Red by Red Ransom) who started favourite and posted her second win in four starts with a determined effort at Murray Bridge.
Four races earlier at the same course, Bellerive graduate from the 2008 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, Mastro Antonio (Danzero-Zeya by Marauding), broke his maiden over 1400 metres.
Placings at Sydney’s Warwick Farm by Dance Man and Accounting completed an excellent national holiday for the 1994 Golden Slipper winner.
These performances take Danzero’s current season figures to fifty winners, including SW Zero Rock, Hidden Wonder & Danzylum, and prizemoney of more than $1.8 million in Australia.
Danzero’s proven ability to leave winners and quality performers is valued by buyers and breeders alike. The next opportunities to buy his progeny are at the New Zealand Select Sale (5 lots), and Melbourne Premier Sale (18 lots including two colts and two fillies in the Bellerive Stud draft ).
