Danzero Produces Another Sizzling Sprinter

Ever consistent sire Danzero unveiled his 34th stakeswinner yesterday when five-year-old gelding HAPPY ZERO (ex Have Love, by Canny Lad) notched an eye catching victory in the HK-G3 Sha Tin Sprint Trophy.

Spotting the leaders six lengths, the dark brown gelding let loose at the 400m mark to not only collect the field in a matter of strides but trounce his rivals to score an impressive 1-1/4 lengths victory over the 1000m journey.

Owned by Mr David Philip Boehm and trained by John Moore, Happy Zero was a $425,000 purchase from the 2006 William Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

A mirror image of his sire, Happy Zero has had just seven starts in Hong Kong for six wins and prizemoney of HK$4,158,750

“Danzero is just a great stallion,” says Bloodstock Manager Jon Freyer. “A sensational sprinter in his own right, he can produce you a Champion 2YO, a Group 1 Derby winner or a yearling that sells for $450,000 … he’s just one of those wonderfully reliable horses that keeps on delivering.”

This season Danzero has been responsible for 22 winners. In addition to Happy Zero’s Group 3 success the stallion has sired the local stakes performers Bombay Sling, Stoneblack, Masked Assassin and the David Hayes trained Extra Zero, who lines up in Saturday’s G1 Caulfield Guineas.
