Charge is Almighty at Randwick

Arrowfield graduate Almighty Charge played an exciting part in trainer Gai Waterhouse’s four-win day at Randwick on Saturday, by leading all the way to to score his second consecutive 1400-metre victory in city company.

Jockey Tim Clark said, “I thought Almighty Charge would lead on paper and I was hoping he would get that without too much pressure. That’s exactly as it worked out and the horse cruised along in front.

“He is racing in very good form and the key, I believe, has been the decision to take the blinkers off. He is enjoying his racing now.”

The 4YO son of Charge Forward and Redoute’s Fever (by Redoute’s Choice) was bred by Arrowfield, Alan Jones & John Leaver and purchased for $240,000 by Gai Waterhouse at the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Sale. Almighty Charge has now won four races and more than $220,000 for his owners Greg & Donna Kolivos and partners.

Charge Forward, already sire of 11 stakeswinners, was represented by another city winner when On Strike (ex Sapphire Girl by Danzero) won a heat of the popular Essendon Mazda 55 Second Challenge at Moonee Valley on Friday evening.

The brilliant son of Red Ransom has five yearlings catalogued for next month’s Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale, including a colt and a filly (both from Redoute’s Choice mares) in the Arrowfield draft.
