Charge Forward strikes in Singapore

Charge Forward’s speedy son My Lucky Strike added a seventh success to his record when he won a $100,000 event over 1000 metres in Singapore on Friday evening.

The quality of his performance was measured by his time, a smart 57.95, and the topweight of 59.5 kg he was asked to carry.

My Lucky Strike was the beaten favourite, second behind Super Winner at his previous start on 26 July but his trainer Mark Walker was happy to excuse him.

He said, “I think he ran well the last time in the KRA Trophy. He was dictated and I just think if he had got to the outside, it might have been a different story.

“Nunes could not get a run to the outside as he had horses there, but he still had every chance. He’s not the biggest horse but he’s really gutsy.

“I will probably give him a freshen-up and bring him back in September, probably an 1000m or 1100m race, nothing too ambitious, but I think he can also go over 1200m as he was running on well in the Korea race.”

The 4YO gelding has now won more than $300,000 for Robert Ng’s Lucky Stable which bought his dam Hanna Rossa in foal to Charge Forward for $60,000 at the 2011 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.

Hanna Rossa (by Testa Rossa) was a good mare in Melbourne where she won four and was Group 3-placed for trainer Tony Noonan and owner Lindsay Williams, former President of the famous US toy company Mattel.

My Lucky Strike was sent to Singapore in July 2014 after three 2YO starts, from the Matt Laurie stable, including placings at Caulfield and Sandown.

He’s the second Singapore winner for Charge Forward in the past month, following the sixth career win by Arrowfield Magic Millions graduate Good News on 10 July.  Like My Lucky Strike, he has earned more than $300,000 for his owner and trainer Tan Hai Wang.
