Charge Forward Makes it a Double
Triple Crown Syndications’ Prerequisite made it a double for her sire Charge Forward at Canterbury on Wednesday when she returned from a spell for a first up kill, her win following on from the earlier victory of debut juvenile winner From the Vault.
After starting a short priced favourite she jumped a touch tardy before getting into stride quickly and finding a nice position just off the lead during the run.
Entering the straight she quickly pounced on the lead whilst still under a hold before jockey Blake Shinn let her go at the 200m to see her extend away from her challengers to take the Benchmark70 event for fillies and mares over 1100 metres.
After putting in a text book ride, jockey Blake Shinn reported that it was a comfortable win.
He said the daughter of Charge Forward is a quality filly and should gain a lot of confidence from today’s race, with trainer David Payne also well pleased with the result noting that she was not fully wound up and will improve several lengths from the run.
A $100,000 purchase for Triple Crown from the Furlong Stud draft at the 2008 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast, Prerequisite has won two races and placed three times from eight starts. Her worth as a broodmare prospect has risen considerably since her purchase through the deeds of her half-brother Gold Trail.
Prerequisite is from the stakes-winner Trail of Gold, whose son Gold Trail (Hussonet) took out the Group One AuRC Railway Stakes in New Zealand last month, her current yearling, a colt by Hussonet (USA) (and full brother to Gold Trail) fetching $330,000 at the recent Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Whatever Prerequisite does in the future on the track, she has already proven herself a great investment for her owners.
