It has been an exciting start to Spring for Arrowfield’s young emerging sire Dundeel with two stakes winners in two weeks with The Inevitable (ex Gift Bouquet) taking out the Listed Bendigo Bank Stakes at Moonee Valley on Saturday in scintillating fashion.

A winner first up this preparation and already a Listed and Group 3 winner, The Inevitable circled the field in a dominating fashion to blitz his rivals by four lengths in a win as you please performance ridden by Craig Williams.

“He was very dominant today” said Williams

“He may be a small horse, but he’s a pocket rocket”.

Trainer Scott Brunton was relieved after the run after being a little concerned he hadn’t handled the trip from Tasmania.

“I didn’t think he was right, he tucked up from the trip, but he proved me wrong.”

“He’s a ripper isn’t he. He’s just fantastic.”

“We were thinking about going to the Rupert Clark, then onto the Golden Eagle, but we will just see how we go.”

The Inevitable was a $80,000 purchase for Scott’s father David Brunton from the Cornerstone draft at Adelaide Magic Millions and is the final foal of Gift Bouquet who is the dam of eleven winners including Stakes Winners Blahnik and Elyesees.

The Inevitable gives Dundeel his 50th winner and 15th Stakeswin (9 Stakes winners) from only 103 runners.

Whilst no black type racing in Eagle Farm on Saturday, there was also a fellow Dundeel gelding making headlines with three-year-old Profit (ex Opportunity) making it two wins from two starts. The Anderson and Heathcote trained gelding once again overcame a troubled run to win easily and looks to also be heading to bigger things this Spring.
