Believe it

It’s easy to believe the dream can become reality when it’s backed by Arrowfield’s substantial, long-term investment in elite stallions & broodmares.

Four-time Champion Sire Snitzel, leading Group 1 sires Dundeel & Maurice (with his first Australian yearlings since 2022) and rapidly emerging Second Season sire The Autumn Sun anchor Arrowfield’s 61-lot Inglis Easter 2024 draft.

Their current season record is already impressive, with a combined tally of 57 stakes performers, 24 stakeswinners and $44 million prizemoney in the first 32 weeks of 2023/24.

There’s plenty more to come – Sydney Autumn Carnival Group 1 nominations include:

  • Snitzel’s high-class sprinting son Remarque, Group 2 winner Zennzella, 3YOs Golden Slipper winner Shinzo, Cap Ferrat, Makarena & Very Sewreel and 2YO colts Switzerland (Todman S. G2 winner & 2nd favourite for the Golden Slipper), Prost, Highness & Bittercreek;
  • Dundeel’s 2YO son Duvana, 3YOs triple Group 1 winner Militarize, Randwick Guineas G1 winner Celestial Legend & Sunsets plus Fistsoffury, Oaks contender Mare Of Mt Buller & 4YO Group 1 winner Dunkel;
  • Maurice 3YOs Ganbare (a Group 1-placed Listed winner this season), Ladyking, Vieste & Voracious, Group 1 sprinter Mazu and Group-placed mare Ausbred Flirt;
  • And The Autumn Sun 3YOs Autumn Angel (already a dual Group winner), Tutta La Vita, Colours Of Autumn, Know Thyself, Private Legacy, Seafall, Sunlord & Vibrant Sun.

Three colts & two fillies by Champion Sire Written Tycoon and single lots by Castelvecchio, I Am Invincible, Night Of Thunder, Pierro & Street Boss complete the draft’s high-octane stallion representation.

The quality of the Arrowfield broodmare band is now higher than ever, thanks to judicious acquisitions and close relationships with leading breeders across the world. This year’s Easter draft features pedigrees packed with champions including:

  • 99 Group 1 winners on the catalogue pages
  • 28 first, second or third foals of their dams
  • 22 lots out of stakes-winning mares, 7 of them Group 1 winners.
  • 17 siblings of stakeswinners including Champions Dundeel, Estijaab, Shoals & Werther
  • Colts from the families of Champions Liberty Island, Redoute’s Choice, Stradivarius & The Autumn Sun
  • Fillies from the families of Champions Beauty Generation, Dane Ripper, Miss Finland & Typhoon Tracy
  • Descendants of celebrated broodmares Daryaba, Denise’s Joy, Princess Tracy, Procrastinate, Snow Bride & Summoned.

Arrowfield’s Sales Consultants Alison Brassil & Mitchell Ralph make their picks from the draft.

Alison selects:
Lot 212 – Maurice-Phyllis Maud filly
“She fills the eye and is the best type we’ve bred out of her dam (a half-sister to Hartnell). A particularly big depth of girth, long stride and purposeful walk with plenty of strength and a good hind leg – I won’t be surprised to see her lining up in some important races at 3 over a mile-plus.”

Lot 293 – Snitzel-Silent Sedition colt
“This colt sticks in my mind, he has star quality, a lovely length of stride and athleticism. All class and he is only going to be more impressive as he furnishes.”

Lot 447 – Dundeel-C’est Beau La Vie colt
“Strong and forward with scope, this son of Dundeel looks fast and has the profile of a horse that can go early and train on. He’s a super active mover with power and quality.”

Mitchell selects:
Lot 1 – Street Boss-Earth Angel colt
“A great blend of speed and athleticism, with scope and a good overstep, this grandson of Miss Finland is bred on a similar cross to Anamoe and looks like a beautiful 3YO in the making.”

Lot 123 – Snitzel-Madame Andree filly
“This lovely three-quarter sister to Anders grabbed me the moment I saw her. She looks like a very quick horse with a powerful hind-quarter and shoulder.”

Lot 452 – Snitzel-Carry on Alice filly
“A standout from birth, with a world-class pedigree and an impressive physical to match. An extremely attractive filly, she has strength and elegance.”
