Autumn Angel wins the Kewney S. G2
The Autumn Sun’s daughter Autumn Angel opened a brilliant Saturday for Arrowfield when she scored a resolute victory in the $300,000 VRC Kewney S. 1600m G2 at Flemington.
It was the 3YO filly’s second Group success after the Ethereal S. G3 last October and she is now on the third line of betting for both the Vinery Stud S. G1 on 30 March and the Australian Oaks G1 on 13 April.
Autumn Angel responded strongly when challenged to hold off a fast-finishing pack in the TAB Kewney Stakes.

Like six other stakeswinners this season, including Todman Stakes winner Switzerland, Autumn Angel is an Arrowfield Inglis Easter graduate, purchased for $230,000 by Dalziel Racing & her trainers Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman. Her record reflects her quality and consistency: 3 wins, 3 placings and $389,000 from 7 starts.
Syndicator Wylie Dalziel was delighted with the result, saying, “She’s a really nice filly…great win, great ride, what can you say, we’re rapt.”
Bred by Arrowfield & Northern Farm, Autumn Angel is the best of three winners so far left by the very good racemare Angel Of Mercy (by Hussonet), trained by Gerald Ryan to win three Listed races and the BRC Lord Mayor’s Cup G3.
Autumn Angel has two younger full sisters and one of them, 2YO Stolen Summer, is in the Paul Messara & Leah Gavranich stable. Angel Of Mercy produced a Maurice colt in 2023 and is in foal to triple Classic winner Hitotsu.
Autumn Angel heads this season’s list of 29 winners, including 5 stakes performers, by The Autumn Sun who has 22 yearlings on offer at Inglis Easter 2024, among them 8 fillies & 10 colts in the Arrowfield consignment.
