Arrowfield opens 2010-11 with treble at Randwick
Arrowfield marked the start of the new season with a treble at Randwick today, courtesy of three impressive winners by Danzero, Hussonet (USA) and Redoute’s Choice.
Super-consistent six-year-old mare Hidden Wonder ( Danzero -Princess Shorna by Last Tycoon; bred by Arrowleave Joint Venture) was first up, sustaining a strong run in front over 1600 metres to score her eighth win, and take her earnings to $435,272. She was purchased at the 2006 Magic Millions Premier Sale for $50,000 by Prime Thoroughbreds and is trained by Kris Lees. Danzero, sire of 35 stakeswinners, including seven Group One winners, stands at a 2010 fee of $16,500 inc. GST.
Talented three-year-old filly Slow The Flow ( Hussonet -Waterwise by Zabeel) made it two wins from three starts with a powerful, swooping finish that took her more than two lengths clear of her rivals at the end of 1200 metres. She is raced by her breeder Gerry Harvey, and is trained by Matthew Smith. Hussonet, sire of 27 Group One winners, is available in 2010 by foal share only to approved mares.
Five races later it was the turn of four-year-old mare Dystopia ( Redoute’s Choice -Bourgeois by Luskin Star) who gained her second win from eight starts in a class record time of 1.06.63 for 1100 metres. Bred by Reavill Farm Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd, and trained by Chris Waller, Dystopia is a sister to Golden Slipper S. G1 winner Stratum. Redoute’s Choice, the Champion Sire of Australia in 2009/10, stands the 2010 season a fee of $176,000 inc. GST.
