Arrowfield MM Sale
As the 2015 Australasian Sales Season begins, no-one needs a long memory to work out that yearlings by Arrowfield stallions deserve serious consideration.
The Stud’s roster supplied many highlights in 2014, most notably Australian Horse of the Year Lankan Rupee (by Redoute’s Choice), and Group 1 winners Shamus Award & Snitzerland (by Snitzel), and Bonaria, Hampton Court & Majmu (by Redoute’s Choice). Snitzerland & Majmu were also bred, raised and sold by Arrowfield, while Lankan Rupee was foaled and reared on the farm for his owner-breeder Muzaffar Yaseen.
Dundeel’s great Queen Elizabeth Stakes victory and the historic father-son Sires’ Premiership quinella achieved by Redoute’s Choice and Snitzel completed Arrowfield’s spectacular 2013/14 season. It was the third General Stallion title for Redoute’s Choice whose global legacy seems assured after two seasons at HH The Aga Khan’s Haras de Bonneval in France.
The Arrowfield stallions have opened 2015 with a flurry of winners, perfectly timed to boost buyers’ confidence in the Magic Millions sales pavilion.
Second season sire Manhattan Rain has added six new winners to his record in the past month, with 3YO filly Wild Rain attracting favourable comment with her 8-length debut win at Kyneton on 22 December, followed by success over 1000 metres at Moonee Valley on Friday evening.
Wild Rain (ex North Flower by Rory’s Jester) was a $150,000 Mark Kavanagh buy from Arrowfield at the 2013 Magic Millions Sale.
Manhattan Rain had a tremendous Spring with his first-crop 3YOs Moonovermanhattan (MVRC Moonee Valley Vase G2), Group performers Crafty & Manhattan Avenue and Light Up Manhattan (stakes-placed and fourth in the Victoria Derby G1). The son of Encosta de Lago holds a clear third position on the Second Season Sires’ list with 19 winners and prizemoney approaching $1 million.
Charge Forward, already a quality source of juvenile speed, has had seven winners in the past month, headed by 3YOs My Lucky Strike, successful in his first three Singapore appearances for Mark Walker, and Fast Cash who posted his second win from the Wendy Kelly stable at Moonee Valley last Friday.
