Charge Forward’s talented 3YO son Charge Account gave ATC Chairman John Cornish a birthday to remember when he notched up his second win from 4 starts over 1100 metres at Warwick Farm yesterday.

His defeat of older horses in class record time of 1.03.13 indicates his readiness for black type company, which he will meet at his next start, in the Fireball Quality H. LR at Rosehill on 2 March.

John and his wife Pam, owners of Torryburn Stud, bred Charge Account from the Anabaa mare Shining Asset whose daughter La Sillage (by Encosta de Lago) is in foal to Charge Forward. The Cornishes also bred this season’s promising 2YO filly Let’s Frolic, by Charge Forward from the Danehill mare Endearment. Both horses are from mares by Danzig-line stallions, already responsible for nine of Charge Forward’s 11 stakeswinners.

Charge Account’s trainer John O’Shea said after yesterday’s win, ?He has taken a wonderful step. A great Bowman ride, good performance by the horse.

?It is very rewarding for everyone with this stable to win the race on John?s birthday, it is a special day for everyone, I am hoping Pam and John get a lot of delight out of this horse and it doesn?t stop here.

?They bred the horse, the reared it themselves, they spend a lot of time with the horses that we don?t really appreciate and when you get a good one, which hopefully this horse will become, it is a special time.””

Charge Forward is enjoying a tremendous season with 5 Australian stakeswinners and prizemoney approaching $2 million. He holds second position on the 2YO Sires’ list and has 16 3YO winners, including the stakeswinners Cavalry Rose and Urban Groove.

The Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale catalogue includes three colts by Charge Forward, to be offered by Cornerstone, Flinders Park and Woodside Park Studs. Arrowfield will present two Charge Forward fillies, the sister to brilliant 2YO Assail and the half-sister to Group 1 winner Reaan, at the Inglis Australian Easter Sale.
