Aliyana Tilde completes Arrowfield’s Group-winning graduate quartet

With impeccable timing, in the month before Australasia’s best yearling sale, four Snitzel fillies purchased from Arrowfield & Bellerive yearling sale drafts have won Group races on all but one of the five Saturdays in March.

2YO Sweet Idea kicked off the sequence in the ATC Silver Slipper S. G2 on 2 March, and 3YO Flying Snitzel followed up a week later when she flashed home to claim the VRC A.V. Kewney S. G2 at Flemington.

On 16 March it was the turn of outstanding 3YO Snitzerland to set a new 1000-metre track record in the ATC Challenge S. G2 – her fifth Group race success.

Today at Rosehill 4YO Aliyana Tilde (ex Patronella by Mister C) confirmed that her two Group 1 placings last year were no flukes with a resolute victory in the $120,000 Epona S. 1900m G3. Her Kembla Grange trainer Kerry Parker bought Aliyana Tilde for $50,000 from Arrowfield Stud at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. Parker races the mare with his business manager Gordon Crockett and Mrs Crockett.

Aliyana Tilde is the third stakeswinner from the grand broodmare Patronella, after the sisters Smytzer’s Trish (dam of SW Swish Trish) and Stella Artois (dam of G2 Freestyle). Patronella has a yearling colt by All American (purchased by Gai Waterhouse & Blue Sky Bloodstock at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale), and is due to foal in August to Beneteau.

Shortly after Aliyana Tilde’s win, Snitzerland almost crowned Snitzel’s magnificent March with a Group 1 win when a courageous second to Bel Sprinter in The Galaxy G1.

Sweet Idea was a Magic Millions purchase by Gai Waterhouse & James Harron from Arrowfield Stud, while Snitzerland and Flying Snitzel were found by Darby Bloodstock and Triple Crown Syndications in the Bellerive Stud draft at the 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.

This accomplished quartet has handsomely repaid their owners with total prizemoney of more than $2.6 million – almost 6 times their combined purchase prices.

Aliyana Tilde is the 13th career stakeswinner for sensational young sire Snitzel , with five of them saluting in black type company this month. Western Australian 2YO colt Petrol Power won the WATC Superemacy S. LR on 9 March.
