Albrecht heads a good day’s work for Redoute’s Choice

Five Group placegetters from seven starters and almost $280,000 prizemoney is a very good day at the office for any stallion. That includes Redoute’s Choice , who compiled that record from today’s premier racing at Rosehill & Moonee Valley.

3YO colt Albrecht (ex O’Giselle by Octagonal) was the undoubted star for Redoute’s Choice today after his outstanding run for second in the $1 million ATC Golden Rose S. 1400m G1, beaten a head by his Darley stablemate Epaulette in race record time of 1:22.30.

The quinella was a memorable result for owner and breeder Sheikh Mohammed who has regularly supported Redoute’s Choice with quality mares over the past decade and can expect further success with both colts this season.

Redoute’s Choice’s 2008 crop contributed two impressive new Group performers, in the shape of Strawberry Boy (3rd, ATC Kingston Town S. 2000m G3) and Chateau Margaux (3rd, MVRC W.H. Stocks S. 1600m G2) who stepped up for their respective owner-breeders John Singleton and Gerry Harvey.

Jonathan Munz’s high-class, home-bred 5YO gelding Rekindled Interest added a 7th Group performance to his record with a strong third in the MVRC Dato Tan Chin Nam S. 1600m G2, a race he won last year en route to placings in the Cox Plate G1 and Mackinnon S. G1.

The Ingham family‘s 6YO mare Dystopia followed up her stakes win at Warwick Farm three weeks ago with a good effort for third in the ATC Theo Marks S. 1400m G2.

These five horses lead a powerful strike force this spring for their champion sire whose Australian earnings this season have already passed the million-dollar mark.
