A Profitable day for Dundeel
A quartet of winners at Randwick, Eagle Farm and Newcastle on a Group 1 day keeps the ball rolling for Dundeel, already making good on the spectacular promise of his 2018/19 season.
Three of the four are Arrowfield graduates out of Danehill-line mares, with full siblings coming on-stream behind them.
4YO Dealmaker (ex Sport Chic by Redoute’s Choice) contributed a gritty victory over 1600 metres to a superb day at Randwick for Champion trainer Chris Waller (six wins, three at Group 1 level) and jockey James McDonald (five wins including the Flight S. G1).
Although it was only his second success, Dealmaker was Group-placed six times last season for leading syndicator Star Thoroughbreds which paid $160,000 for him at the 2017 Inglis Classic Sale. Sport Chic has a yearling full brother to Dealmaker, produced a colt by Japan’s Horse of the Year Maurice last month and is booked to return to Dundeel.

Ten minutes later Think Big Stud’s cleverly named 3YO Profit (ex Opportunity by Redoute’s Choice) stepped up to 1800 metres at Eagle Farm to post his third win from four starts for trainer Chris Anderson who joined agent Duncan Ramage to buy him for $280,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.
Rinse & repeat! Profit (like Dealmaker, an Arrowfield graduate son of Dundeel & a Redoute’s Choice mare) gets his 3rd win @BrisRacingClub for @thinkbigstud, @DGRTBS & Chris Anderson – congrats all! 3YO Pandano (ex Milanesa by Snitzel) gained his second success in six starts when he scored over 1200 metres at Newcastle for Steve & Louise Gillard, Arrowfield and trainer Paul Perry. He was a $130,000 buy from the 2018 Inglis Classic Sale and Milanesa has since delivered his 2018 and 2019 full brothers. She visits Champion European 2YO Shalaa this Spring.
Also at Newcastle, 4YO Deelbraka (ex Sunset Boulevard by Fasliyev) deservedly broke through for his maiden success after seven placings for the Maher & Eustace stable. He was a $250,000 purchase by Astute Bloodstock from the Henley Park draft at the 2017 New Zealand Premier Sale.
These performances have consolidated Dundeel’s second position on the Australian 3rd Season Sires’ list with 15 winners of 19 races and just over $900,000 prizemoney. A still-developing group of older progeny and a 140-strong crop of 2YOs distributed across many top stables ensure that Dundeel’s star continues to rise.
